Nearly 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the region, producing powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.

Large Ice Stones and Widespread Damage

Locals observed giant hailstones as large as 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to address the widespread outages.

Victorian Storm Challenges

At the same time, nearly one thousand energy customers in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.

Emergency response teams received over five hundred calls for help across the state, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

• Wyndham - nearly 180 help reports

At the height on the previous day, in excess of 28k electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both regions.

Health Warning

Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
