đź”— Share this article Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session The British driver has outperformed his teammate at all of the last five race weekends. The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Norris, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds. Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session. The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a unique setup. Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting. The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the wall. Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight. The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver. The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's car P3, 0.619secs off Piastri's best. Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
